Literary and Historical Perspectives of the Great Depression

Dr. Ron Wells, director of the Maryville Symposium, and Dr. Will Phillips, associate professor of English at Maryville College, offer historical and literary perspectives of The Grapes of Wrath in an approachable and thought-provoking discussion. Dr. Wells and Dr. Phillips will lead the conversation and invite questions from the audience. Please bring a canned good or nonperishable food item to donate to our local food pantries.

Live Radio Show
Saturday, Oct. 25, 7 p.m.
East Tennessee History Center

Knox County Public Library, in a Media High Workshop for young people, will present a live radio show based on the popular series You Are There. Teenagers will go back in time to give listeners a chance to sit around the radio and hear news about the Dust Bowl and the Great Depression.
